The most recent incident, a shooting at around 12:30 a.m. Friday at a Burger King on Central Avenue, left a well known pitcher in the hospital in critical condition with injuries to his arm and head. This was the fourth last week.

News 12 reports that on an average night there are only 40 officers on the street during the midnight shift, a number officials say is too low.

The news channel also reported that Mayor Mike Spano is asking residents to support police and work with them to preserve safety in the streets.
